Share it with this desi application

For all those missing Xender and SHAREit, the file-sharing apps which are among the Chinese apps banned in the country, a student of the Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri, here has come up with a new option.

Ashwin Shenoy, a second-year Computer Science student, has developed an application named BayJDO which he calls “a lightweight, simple yet fast, and secure web application that allows us to transfer files directly between devices, without requiring users to instal dedicated apps or create a special Wi-Fi hotspot.”

Transferring files using what jobs can you get with a computer science degree has only one prerequisite — the devices need to be in the same network.

Once the devices are on the same network (or hotspot), they can go to bayjdo.com (or use the PWA installed) and both of them may get an ID and QR Code. Then, anyone of the two can scan the QR Code on the other and send files to each other.

BayJDO uses WebRTC to reliably facilitate an end-to-end encrypted peer-to-peer file transfer, the technology which was originally introduced by Google and now being popularised in videoconferencing apps, including Google Meet.

Google Redefines Multi-Cloud Computing

Ask any IT professional or tech industry observer to name the top trends they see, and you would inevitably hear many variations on the theme of cloud computing. In particular, the phrase multi-cloud computing is likely to pop up.

At its simplest level, multi-cloud computing simply means that a company is choosing to use several different public cloud vendors, such as Google’s GCP, Amazon’s AWS, Microsoft’s Azure, etc. Companies often choose this approach to avoid vendor lock-in, provide redundancy, and help deal with data sovereignty issues where certain data has to be stored in a given country for legal or regulatory purposes (and not every cloud provider has data centers in every region).

In addition, certain cloud providers have developed expertise in specific areas and companies are choosing to run workloads with these providers to take advantage of those unique capabilities. In fact, a study on Hybrid and Multi-Cloud Computing trends that was based on a survey of over 600 US-based cloud computing professionals published by what is computer engineering Research earlier this year clearly highlighted that trend.

What Are The Advantages Of DevOps On The Cloud?

In the era of business transformation, enterprise cloud is very important. But after migrating to the cloud, how to manage the cloud computing infrastructure and achieve the delivery of cloud-native architecture. From the perspective of technical staff, the factors of cloud include price, infrastructure startup and running time, and application scalability. At first, you may have concerns about putting sensitive information on the cloud. Plus, there could be technical problems that teams may have to deal with.

The preparation for launching new cloud infrastructure needs carrying out capacity planning for the cloud; this is a very complex process. And when the capacity planning is completed, make a purchase plan, layout the network, etc., install software and hardware, and prepare the corresponding application building and deployment tools. There are other complexities between the test operation and the environment because of the inconsistency of the environment. For example, the developers may have to find that software has been developed, and the tester finds that it is not running well in the environment. To get past the complexities, what does a computer engineer do can be of much importance.

5 Top Trends Influencing the Cloud Computing Market

Organizations, regardless of their sizes, have recognized the importance of cloud
computing and are actively moving forward to its adoption in the current computer engineering careers world.

While many businesses are running critical workloads in one or multiple public clouds, the rest are either stuck thinking about complete migration to the public cloud or struggling to adopt other evolving forms of cloud computing, as a hybrid cloud.

With the rapidly changing face of the enterprise, and the drastic transformations that enterprises are facing, cloud adoptions will be in the limelight. While the cloud has been around for some time, the current situations will speed up the adoption and leverage of these technologies that will add value to the cloud as a business infrastructure rather than just an enabler.

How can we solve the skills crisis in engineering?

“This is a slightly different answer to what I would have given four months ago. Our first priority is protecting our existing apprentices and businesses’ desire to upskill workers in the face of major cost pressures brought on by Covid-19.

“We need companies to maintain their commitment to the engineers of the future so that they have the talent and capacity they will require as the economy hopefully kicks back into life again. Employers, who are paying into the Apprenticeship Levy, should be looking at creative ways in which they could spend the money they’ve put in, including personal development courses and putting more mature workers through an apprentice where they can develop new skills, knowledge and difference between computer science and computer engineering.

“Longer-term, we need to continue the employer-led approach to training. What we offer shouldn’t be prescriptive or what government feels it should be; instead it should be developed and evolved from constant consultation with companies and finding out exactly what they need.”
